This sweet family knows me because I take pictures for their son’s preschool. November is a tricky month since many times it’s past peak foliage so the colors aren’t as bright and it’s a bit colder. So this family kicked it up bringing some colors that popped against the background. This little guy was a bit wary of me in the beginning but warmed up as the session went on. This is the main reason I don’t like to do mini sessions with families. Children around this age need some time to warm up to a stranger who’s clicking away in front of them. A half-hour session doesn’t give many kids time to get used to me and because I shoot for natural interactions instead of “look at me and smile”, it takes a little more time. But in the end, those connection shots are THE best!
