A couple weeks ago I had the privilege of shooting newborn shots for the “S” family. They had an adorable 2 year old, and 7 week old boy and girl twins. Since this was my first newborn shoot, and with twins no less, I was a bit nervous. Luckily, I knew their oldest daughter as she is in the same daycare class as my youngest daughter. This was a plus for me because I knew she’s at least seen me before so I hoped that would put her at ease a little.
My number one goal for my sessions is to try to capture the emotion that happens between the family members. I want to feel something. So many of these when I was editing just took my break away because of the beauty of the moment and how I could actually see the emotion come through in the frame. My second goal, is to capture what is going on around the family at that point in their life. A little snapshot for them to back and remember how things were. I do a mix between a few posed shots, because I know how important it is to get everyone in the frame, and lifestyle shooting where it’s a peek into what’s going on in the family’s life.
This family was a natural in front of the camera and there were so many keepers from the bunch I just couldn’t pick one, so here are some of my favorites.
